Entrepreneurship is on the rise among women in NYC and beyond, with female voices and ideas finally getting the attention and momentum they deserve. Here are the female entrepreneur leadership conferences and events in New York City (and a couple worth traveling for) this year that the team here at NYC Office Suites is looking forward to. The year may be half over, but there are still many opportunities to get involved in the local entrepreneur scene for women in business.
Women Entrepreneurs Meetup in NYC – NYC – July 19
One women’s networking group that’s worth checking out in the city is called Women with Ambition. This group is having a NYC launch party on July 19 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at the WeWork Park South at 401 Park Avenue South, 10th Floor. This is an opportunity for women in business to network with like-minded ambitious women while enjoying some wine and sharing insights about how to reach entrepreneurship goals. This event, which is free to attend, kicks off by networking with drinks and snacks, followed by co-founder Kelly Rogan introducing the organization, an audience takeover, and a business pitch workshop.
Her Conference 2018 – NYC – July 21-22
This is a women’s entrepreneurship conference that’s coming up soon too and right here in NYC. The Her Conference is designed to help college women and recent college grads establish their careers and become leaders in everything from tech to media, marketing, and social impact work. This is a two-day conference on July 21 and 22 that takes place at Convene, 730 3rd Avenue and runs from 8am to 5pm each day. There will be at least six keynote discussions with industry leaders, all meals and snacks served, a conference essentials kit, and exclusive gift bag included. Keynote speakers include actress Aisha Dee, Glamour editor-in-chief Samantha Barry, and Dr. Jen Welter, who’s the first female NFL coach. The general admission cost for the full two days is $150.
The Entrepreneur Exchange: Women’s Edition – NYC – August 12
Another great free event hosted by one of NYC’s top women’s networking groups is The Entrepreneur Exchange: Women’s Edition. GCM Agency, LLC is hosting this event on August 12 in Queens Village, New York on August 12 from noon to 4pm. This is the group’s first women’s entrepreneurial networking event, so come out to show your support and get in with this group on the ground floor. Led by CEOs Naja Gary and Gianna Norfleet, this event will feature keynote speakers, spoken-word artists, musical entertainment, musical tributes to women, giveaways, and refreshments including mimosas and fruit skewers.
WE Connect Mentor Session with Ellie Kassner of W.H. Kassner – NYC – August 2
Women in business also know how important mentoring is, which is why we’re looking forward to the Women Entrepreneurs NYC (WE NYC) Mentor Session with Ellie Kassner of W.H. Kassner. This free event is taking place at the Department of Small Business Services, 110 Williams Street on the second floor in the Hunt’s Point Conference Room. You can’t help but be inspired by Kassner, who is president of a metal subcontracting commercial construction company, a third-generation business owner, and a coach to other entrepreneurs. This event will take place between noon and 2pm on August 2.
National Women’s Business Conference – Spokane, Washington – September 23-25
If you can manage to squeeze a trip out west into your busy schedule, then consider planning to travel to the National Women’s Business Conference in Spokane, Washington on September 23-25. Held at the Davenport Grand, the theme of this year’s women’s entrepreneurship conference is “Work well, live well.” Here you can attend breakout sessions, leadership meetings, listen to keynote speakers, and enjoy happy hours and cocktail receptions while networking. Featured keynote speakers include author Elizabeth Gilbert and SoulPancake’s Shabnam Mogharabi. The cost to attend this conference is $125 to $650, depending on what events you want to attend and if you’re a member of the organization already or not.
She Leads 2018 Conference for 2nd Chapter Women Entrepreneurs – NYC – October 12
One of the biggest women in business events coming up this fall is the She Leads 2018 Conference for 2nd Chapter Women Entrepreneurs. This NYC event is taking place at the Wells Fargo Conference Center on October 12 from 9am to 6pm. Come here to hear actionable and practical advice about how to pursue the second chapter in your career journey and grow and scale your business. The event is hosted by She Leads Media, which has been serving women entrepreneurs since 2013. The cost to attend this event is $199 to $349 depending on how early you buy your ticket.
The 2018 Top 25 Leading Women Entrepreneurs Event – Jersey City, New Jersey – November 12
We also recommend taking a trip over to nearby Jersey City on November 12 to join the 2018 Top 25 Leading Women Entrepreneurs Event. This is one of the most anticipated women in business events this year because it honors women business owners who are innovators and advocates for women around the world. Twenty-five leaders will be celebrated here to inspire us all and learn from their stories and expertise. The event will also feature a cocktail hour, gourmet food, a variety of speakers, and inspiring videos. Held at Liberty House, 76 Audrey Zapp Drive in Jersey City, the event kicks off at 5pm and runs until 9pm. It’s hosted by Leading Women, an organization media and events company founded by Linda Wellbrock. Early bird ticket prices are $125 per ticket.
Tech Up for Women Conference – NYC – November 15
Mark your calendars for November 15, because this is when the Tech Up for Women event is taking place from 8am to 5pm at Metropolitan West, 639 West 46th Street in NYC. This is a must-attend event for women in business who want to learn about new tech advances, cyber security, and startup financing. Come here to see cutting-edge VR, AR, AI, and robotics exhibits, listen to inspiring keynote speakers, and network with tech industry leaders. The lineup of keynote speakers and panelists include Xerox’s Anne M. Mulcahy, Google’s Courtney McCarthy, Pfizer’s Sabina A. Ewing, and IBM’s Nancy Calderon. Tickets for the one-day event cost $275 to $350, depending on how early you buy them.
